I was born on the French side, in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, and grew up in Hendaye — right on the border. These days, home is Lekunberri, between San Sebastián and Pamplona.

An incredible visit to the Basque region

We had a wonderful time on our private tour of the Basque Coast with The Local Way. It was easily one of the highlights of our trip to San Sebastián.

Alex was fantastic, friendly, knowledgeable, and just really easy to spend the day with. What made the experience even more genuine is that Alex is from the Basque region, so we were not just learning about the area, we were experiencing it through someone who actually grew up there and has a real connection to the culture, the history and the people. It felt more like exploring the Basque Coast with a local friend than being on a formal guided tour.

We saw beautiful places, learned a lot, and never felt rushed. If you are in San Sebastián and want to experience the Basque Coast in a more personal, authentic way, I highly recommend The Local Way and definitely ask for Alex. Great experience and a truly memorable day.

Great experience!

Alex was an incredible guide. He had so much history to share with us, picked out some great pintxos for us to eat and made it a really fun night. I would highly recommend this tour, especially if you do not speak Spanish, as walking into some of these bars can feel overwhelming and the guide takes all of that away and lets you just enjoy the experience.
